During this year’s A to Z Challenge, I am writing about my latest novel, Escape Plan by giving you all little snippets about the characters, inspiration, and lessons learned while writing my third novel.

Kitty Haskell is the primary character in the Overlook series. Both novels revolve around her struggle to redefine who she is.

Kitty has serious anger issues. On the surface, she is sweet and pulled together, but she is a seething mess underneath. When you first meet Kitty in Overlook she is holding it together by taking out her frustrations on the tennis court and drowning her anger in vodka. She is the queen of Denial. Once event force her to confront the messiness of her life, she can no longer sublimate her angry impulses.

An angry Kitty is a dangerous Kitty. She can’t control her emotions and acts out, to put it euphemistically. By the end of Escape Plan, she’s learning when to temper her passions and when to let herself go.
