isolationWriting is an isolating pursuit. It is all too easy to sit at our little writing desks and lose track of the outside world. Finding a balance between living in the rich inner world of our stories and living in the real world of other people can be difficult.

As an introverted person who prefers the company of my elderly cat to the company of most people, I have to schedule “people time” into my week.  I am an active member of several critique groups and carve out an hour or two to chat with friends and family every day. Do you find yourself losing touch with the people around you? Or, do you revel in the alone time you have at your writing desk?
